Jake Pollock was born in America and graduated from New York University film school. He arrived in Taiwan in 2002 to pursue his cinematography career. Among his Taiwanese credits are: Cheng Yu-Chieh’s debut feature Do Over, which won the Grand Prize as well as the Audience Award at the 2006 Taipei Film Festival and world-premiered in Venice International Film Festival, and Wi Ding Ho’s short Respire, a double winner at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
In recognition of his works in Taiwan, Jake also received a Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Taipei Film Festival—becoming the first cinematographer in that festival's history to receive such an honor. Summer Afternoon is his third short film collaboration with Wi Ding Ho.
